Create a Home Movie Theater For Your Child’s Birthday Party
There was a time when it was popular and affordable to take your child and all their friends to a group activity such as bowling, roller skating, or the movies for their birthday celebration. As your kids got older, these activities were a fun and more “grown-up” alternative to the at-home birthday parties they were used to during their younger years, where a birthday cake and pin the tail on the donkey were enough for them. Now they want a place where their friends can mingle and they can be entertained with more than a couple of games.
Unfortunately, bringing a group of kids to the movies or to the bowling alley can get expensive. For example, at the bowling alley you have to pay to play, to rent shoes, and for a meal and sodas. At the movie theater, between the tickets and popcorn and soda for everyone, you will have nothing left to buy your child a gift.
A fun middle ground is to have a movie theater party in your house, where the kids can watch a movie on satellite TV. This will save a lot of money, and there are a few tips you can follow to ensure all will have a good time.
1. Send out invitations with a movie theme to get everyone excited about the idea. You can find invitations at your local stationary store or even online. Have your child help fill them out with the details of his or her birthday celebration.
2. Have your child choose a movie before his or her guests arrive. With satellite TV, you have a variety of movie channels to choose from, as well as video on demand. Whether it is a sports film, action film, or comedy, make sure it is appropriate for the age group.
3. Stock up on props and anything else that will make your guests feel like they are at a movie theater.
a. Create movie tickets that can be handed to each guest as they arrive. You can get creative and write the name of your child, the date, how old they are turning, and the movie that will be shown.
b. Rent a popcorn machine so you can serve guests bags of buttery popcorn, just like they do at the theater.
c. Get your hands on movie theater posters, or print them out from your computer, and hang them around the house, especially in the room where you will be watching the movie.
d. Set up chairs and couches in rows like they would be in a movie theater. Turn the lights down during the movie to get the full effect of being in a theater.
e. Make goodie bags with move theater candy and microwave popcorn bags to give kids on their way out. The kids can enjoy these treats next time they watch a movie at home on their own satellite TV.

Home Theater Furniture
A home theater system is all the rage now. People are fed up with hooliganism on the streets and in cinemas and are finding it simpler to stay at home. If you drive to the pictures, you could get stuck in a traffic jam or get harassed at traffic lights by people cleaning your windscreen without having been asked.
Once you get to the cinema, the price is sky high and the sound track has to be way too loud to drown out the yobs that talk all the way through the movie.
People have decided that it is just not worth going to the cinema any more. The majority of people who go there are kids who have nowhere else to go. Home-owners have voted with their feet.
However, they still like to watch movies so the answer is to build a home theater in your own house, which is no longer a costly undertaking.
It is as costly as you want to set up a home movie set-up. If you have a spare room, that is fantastic, but otherwise you can establish a home movie theater system in your living room. If you want to set it up in your living room, you can either hook it up to your present television or you could have a drop-down projection screen.
You will have to verify what the difference in price is, because they change, but you can get a projector and colossal screen for less that a forty inch wide screen TV.
There are stacks of articles on which the best system is and how to set it up and that is usual. People have their preferences. I would like to recommend that you spend some money on furniture.
The furniture in a theater is often quite luxurious, so if you want to recreate the experience of being in a cinema, you will need some good, not only decent furniture.
If you are establishing your home theater system in a spare bedroom, this is even more important, because there is a temptation to scrimp on furniture that will not be used or seen every day.
If you believe that you will be using the home theater a lot, then you really must splash out on good chairs. Loungers even and a massage chair if you can afford it. Imagine that! A massage each night after work whilst you watch a film or two!
The important thing concerning chairs is the cushion or / and the padding. If you want the ultimate cushions or pillows, try memory foam pillows or chairs with memory foam padding.
If you are a bit short of money and want to install a system bit by bit, get a good home theater system and some huge throw cushions. You can put a couple of these on the floor and just sink back into them while you watch your movie.

The Signal Formats in a Home Movie Theater System
Common to most households nowadays, a Home Movie Theater has somewhat become a staple when talking about home entertainment equipment. Gone are the days when a home movie theater would cost an arm and a leg, thus the now common prevalence of home movie theaters in most homes.
But as the price vs. “getting real” battle is coming to a resolution, another “battle” in the realm of home movie theater systems is brewing. Selecting the ideal video signal format for one’s home movie theater system poses to be a problem in setting up one’s home movie theater and would be the “battle” being referred to.
For the longest time, only one kind of video signal was around and about: analog.
Analog signals travel constantly carrying information. With analog video signals, the signals contain a stream of data feeding a CRT television the needed information on how to “paint” the lines on the phosphor screen, which is known as the picture tube.
The downside to analog video signal is that once signals are transmitted, picture quality from the original source easily degrades. This is something a digital television set wouldn’t have to worry about, since digital technology depends on data streams consisting of sets of 1’s and 0’s. Sending information through a digital signal can’t degrade, carrying more detail, compared to analog signals.
Digital television systems, also known as DTV, are progressively scanned resulting to a much more fluid picture movement. Analog television sets are capable of reading standard-definition television signals (SDTV), which has 480 scan lines for picture information.
High Definition Television (HDTV) boasts of higher resolutions and is the highest resolution video signal in the market today.
Choosing an HDTV and a SDTV set isn’t exactly a simple thing to do, as these devices work with complimentary items like antenna types, satellite service signal receivers and cable service receivers. Buying the wrong type of television would mean getting a set that isn’t supported by one’s already set up equipment/services.
For example, buying an HDTV set without knowing that your cable service provider doesn’t support HDTV sets.
An HDTV set supports resolutions from 1280 x 720 to 1920 x1080, with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and frame rates ranging from 24p, 30p, and 60, where p stands for progressive video format. SDTV support smaller resolution rates ranging from 640 x 480, 704 x 480 and 704 x 480, the first two having an aspect ratio of 4:3, and the last resolution rate 16:9
What used to be the problem area of price, when it comes to home movie theater systems, has now been replaced with just what type to get, with regards to compatibility issues.
